About

Two people, a car, and a lot of Norway to cover

— Roger & Cato

Taste Norway is built and run by Roger and Cato. We do the visits ourselves – the interviews, the photography, the film and the writing. That is deliberate: the story only works if the people telling it were actually there.

Why we started

Norway has an extraordinary food culture that almost nobody outside the country knows about – and a surprising number of Norwegians do not know it either. The places doing it best are usually small, family-run and far from any city. They are excellent at what they make and rarely have the time or the budget to tell anyone about it.

The existing options are advertising platforms and review sites. Both reward whoever spends or shouts the most. We wanted the opposite: a place where being included means something, because it cannot be bought.

How it is paid for

Producing a story properly costs money – travel, days on site, photography, film, editing, translation. Places that want their story told commission the production. Selection happens first and independently, and no place is ever included because it paid.

We are also building the Founding 50 – the first 50 places, who make the first year of production possible. More about that here.

No place has ever paid to be included, and no place ever will.
